What We Do

Pineapple evolved from a dairy farm into a micro rural estate, including a business park, co working space, shop, campsite, farm, self storage and residential property.

We are a family run business, seeking to look after this little piece of Dorset. For us, this means supporting local, being conscious about our footprint and actively reducing it, and creating an accessible environment for people to enjoy the beauty of West Dorset.

It was a huge honour to attend the Dorset Tourism Awards last night, celebrating incredible destinations across Dorset. Seeing so many people putting their all into what they do, from museum to festivals. What an absolute joy to be a part of this Dorset crew!

We walked away with bronze in the "Camping, Caravanning Park & Glamping Business of the Year" and we couldn't be more chuffed.

Another lovely review - It really does mean the world to us that our guests enjoy all that Pineapple has to offer.

Two winters ago, a landslide took out part of the lane and with it, a lovely old bank rich with ferns, stitchwort, bugle, scarlet pimpernel, campions and more. It was a real shame to see it give way, taking with it that little flourish of life that had quietly built up over the years.

So, we’ve been working to restore it. With a bucket full of seeds kindly shared by a trusty friend and a few handfuls of homemade compost, teeming with life, we’re giving the bank a second chance. 🌱

Seeds aren’t just seeds — they carry their own tiny community. Each seed can contain thousands of beneficial microbes, forming a natural support system that helps them sprout, fend off disease, and thrive in the soil.

Here’s hoping this brings the bank back to life, albeit one sprout at a time.

We name each area of our campsite after native flowers and trees. Clover, foxglove, honeysuckle......
They're not just pretty names, you really will find the campsite looking beautiful all summer.
We have a fantastic grounds team who work tirelessly to keep the site looking really special. The only thing that's missing is the Pineapples!

They already run their production kitchen here, but they’ve been absolutely smashing it with their artisan tinned fish and needed more room to grow 🐟✨

For a business that needs to maximise every inch of space, we’ve kept things simple and super functional, clearing out extra walls and counter space that didn't suit their needs, alongside installing new windows to let the light pour in & fitting an extra-large double door to make moving stock a breeze

We can't wait to see the Sea Sisters team settle into their new space and keep doing what they do best!

It's a real joy to watch small businesses thrive – and as a home to many of them, we’re all about creating practical, no-fuss spaces in a peaceful, beautiful setting.

As some of you may know, we’re on a journey to improve the health of our farm’s soil. A big part of that involves recycling waste streams from the businesses based here on the farm, turning them into biologically rich inputs that feed the land—not just the plants.

We’re still operating on a small scale, but the results so far have been really exciting! One of our main goals is to boost fungal biomass in the soil. Why? Because fungi help form macro-aggregates in the soil, which promote water infiltration, oxygen flow, nitrogen and carbon cycling, and all sorts of other good things.

So it was very cool to spot this little cosmos plant from the garden absolutely entwined with fungal growth—exactly the kind of natural connection we’re trying to mimic across the farm. 🌾🍄

Still lots to learn and lots to do, but we’re feeling hopeful for what’s to come!

🐶 Over 1500 dogs stayed at our little campsite last year… that’s a lot of wagging tails to keep happy!

So we’ve stocked the shop with Green & Wild’s all-natural toys and treats – because our four-legged guests deserve the best.

To make sure everything passes the sniff test, we called in our top product tester: Crumpet, the office dog 🐾

The rigorous testing process included:
Throwing the lobster around the office like a lunatic – ✅ Survived.
Tug of war with a colleague more than twice her size – ✅ Still intact.
Hours of dedicated chewing – ✅ lobster slightly less fabulous, but still going strong.

Final verdict: 10/10, would chew again.
We now have one very happy puppa… and a slightly traumatised lobster

We love this time of year — when the wildflowers start to bloom and the fields come alive. 🌼🌿

Around the farm, we’ve turned some of our field margins and hard-to-reach areas into spaces for nature. These patches aren't easy to work, making them the perfect pockets for nature - growing wildflower to promote pollinators & birds. Many of our neighbours and farmers further afield are adopting this method, to encourage nature whilst also producing food. It’s exciting to think of all those hidden corners now bursting into life!

This area is mainly ox-eye daisies and knapweed for now, but we’re looking forward to watching more varieties appear as the season rolls on.

Our campsite showers just got a glow-up! We were planning a refresh, but it ended up being a complete rebuild of the internal shower block. A big thanks to Chris & his team for working their magic – everything’s now spic & span, sparkling clean, and ready to enjoy. Nothing like a proper shower after a day of adventures in the great outdoors! @wellmans_building

Back in October, we were lucky to welcome a fantastic group of volunteers from Dorset Wildlife Trust to help us kickstart a new wildflower area on the bottom of the campsite. It’s something we’ve tried before on this patch, and although we’ve had some success, the mix tends to reduce over the years, eventually returning back to grass. This is partly due to our fertile soil and enthusiastic grasses, and also because we need to graze areas harder—something that’s not always logistically possible (i.e. on the campsite!).

This time, we’re lucky to have the support of the Wildlife Trust. They're helping us try something different: all the seed was collected from local meadows, so it’s better suited to our soil. Among the mix? The much-discussed but somewhat elusive (at least on our farm!) yellow rattle—fingers crossed it settles in this time! 🤞🌱

At the moment, it’s more creeping thistle than wildflower paradise, so we’ll soon be out there with our trusty spades, digging out the weeds before their roots get too big. Thanks @dorsetwildlife !

Despite a few April showers, everyone arrived with a spring in their step—and we’ve had such a lovely time having you stay. The weather even treated us to a beautifully sunny Sunday! ☀️🌼

The cows clearly felt it too—they’ve just been let out to graze the neighbouring fields and have been popping their heads over the fence to say hello 🐄💚

Turns out, all you really need is a sense of adventure, a fireside cuppa, and some friendly faces (cow and human alike!).

Dorset is beautiful at any time of year but particularly when the bluebell woods are a carpet of colour.

We've been out taking soil samples across the farm to check in on our soil health.

Here's what we're testing for:
🧪 Nutrients – Making sure our crops get what they need to thrive.
📉 pH Levels – we're prone to acidic soils, that can lock up nutrients..So we’re keep an eye on that!
🔬 Biology – We want plenty of beneficial microbes to facilitate aggregate creation, nutrient cycling, and nitrogen storage (& to control any soil borne pathogens ❌).
🌿 Soil organic carbon Levels – Measuring how much carbon our soils hold to track sequestration.

We’ll be analysing our soil sample results to see what land management practises have worked and what hasn’t. While we don’t spray pesticides or synthetic fertiliser on the farm, there are still various steps we can take to improve soil health. This year, we applied lime to help balance our pH, added organic matter, and relied on grazing livestock to return nutrients to the soil 💩. Grazing is an essential part of our soil improvement plan—especially on terrain that can’t be worked for crops (the hills are beautiful to look at but do impact what you can grow! 🚜).

Soil is such an important part of the environment. 🌎 Healthier soils mean:
More nutrients passed into the food you eat 🍽️
Stronger plants = less susceptible to pests (increasing yield and reducing the need for pesticides) 🌾🐞
Greater water retention = reducing flood risk & plant rot 💧
More carbon stored in the ground, helping tackle climate change 🌱
Improved soil structure, reducing erosion and compaction 🚜
