PINEAPPLE ESTATE
WHAT WE DO
Pineapple evolved from a dairy farm into a micro rural estate, including a business park, shop, holidays, farm, self storage and residential property.
We are a family run business, seeking to look after this little piece of Dorset. For us, this means supporting local, being conscious about our footprint and actively reducing it, and creating an accessible environment for people to enjoy the beauty of West Dorset.
SUSTAINABILITY
We want to protect this beautiful part of Dorset. On the farm and grounds we implement land management that will benefit nature.
We're learning and adapting as we go, but here are some examples of what we've achieved so far:
91kw of Solar onsite.
We try and power everything with renewable.
23 hectares of farmland incorporated into environmental projects. Focusing on flower rich margins, herb swards and nitrogen fixing crops. Managed with minimal artificial fertilisers and pesticides, to encourage wildlife and carbon capture.
1.5 hectares of wild flowers and 0.7 hectares of pollinator meadows.
To create habitats for invertebrate & insects, creating homes for plenty of bumble bees.
Changing all lights across the Estate to LED. This project has been part funded by Low Carbon Dorset, as part of the European Regional Development Fund. This will save over 5.8 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
